FEATURES

DIN 137 B Waved Spring Washers are thin metal washers that often have three or four "waves." Their wavy design allows them to act as a spring that exhibits a fairly linear spring rate between roughly 20% and 80% of their available deflection. When loaded (compressed), their outside diameter (OD) increases as their inside diameter (ID) decreases so allow space for these dimensional changes. They can be stacked but must be separated by a flat washer. Use to provide a preload between two surfaces and in situations where axial space is limited. Common applications include maintaining fastener tension, acting as take-up springs to compensate for tolerance variations in assembled parts and as cushion spacers. Reducing end play in motors and providing a preload for bearings are two examples. Choose from zinc plated and plain finish (no rust protection) spring steel, stainless steel and spring bronze. Washer size refers to its nominal hole size and is based on screw size (for instance, an M6 washer is used with an M6 screw). DIN 137 B is recommended for new designs in place of DIN 137 A.
